M2 Animation Studio is looking for Storyboard Artist

Our 200+ M2 family is a melting pot of experienced talents and consist of more than 20 nationalities from all over the world.  Our range covers from storytelling to design, from modeling to texturing, from camera layout to animation and lighting, and from effects to color grading.  Right now, M2 Animation is looking for Storyboard Artist to create TV Series, TVCs and High-Spec Short Format Films for our big-name clients. The artists in the team produces a variety of series-format animation: Tween, 2D, preschool etc.

The Position:

We are looking for Storyboard Artist, with experience in CG Series, Short Film and TVC  production, to join our storyboard department.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Reading and interpreting scripts.
  • Breaking down the script with the director to identify key scenes and plan them visually.
  • Sequencing the scenes from a script into storyboard format using panels of images (Thumbnails).
  • Meeting with teams about the updated storyboards.
  • Amending storyboard scenes during the course of production.

Software and tools

Storyboard artists may work with a combination of pen and paper and computer software such as:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Toon Boom Harmony / Toon Boom Storyboard

Skills and Technical Knowledge Requirements:

Storyboard artists work closely with the director to give graphic representation to their vision of the script. They need strong visual storytelling skills to bring a script to life for the first time.

M2 are looking for the following skills in a storyboard artist:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with concept artists, writers, directors, clients, etc to visualize the story.
  • Training in animation.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Fluency in visual storytelling.
  • Knowledge of various styles and genres.
  • Talent for sketching.
  • Photography skills may be beneficial.
  • Understanding of the principles of animation.
  • Knowledge of the principles of storytelling.
  • Ability to interpret the ideas of others into detailed drawings.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Strong layout and design skills.
  • Adaptability in working with different directors and production teams.
  • Skills in both hand drawing and computer drawing.
  • Decent knowledge of camera angles and cinematography techniques.
  • Editing skills.

Terms of employment, salary, and benefits will be individually negotiated.
