M2 Animation Studio is looking for an experienced Rigging Supervisor

 

Our 200+ M2 family is a melting pot of experienced talents and consists of more than 20 nationalities from all over the world. Our range covers from storytelling to design, from modeling to texturing, from camera layout to animation and lighting, and from effects to color grading. Right now, M2 Animation is looking for Rigging Supervisor to create TV Series, TVCs and High-Spec Short Format Films for our big-name clients. Our teams produce a variety of series-format animation: Tween, 2D, preschool etc.

 

The Position:

As Rigging Supervisor you must be able to effectively manage and inspire the rigging team, making sure they deliver on their goals, work closely with the departments of which your work supports, and have transparent and harmonious collaboration with producers, directors, CG supervisors, and production managers.

 

You will be expected to inspire, mentor, train, and develop your team, while delivering high-quality, international standard rigs and blend shapes that support the design aesthetics of each show. You must challenge yourself and the crew to exceed expectations, while treating all members of the crew with equal respect and deliver instructions in a polite and professional manner.

 

Main Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting external production companies in their use of the M2 Animation’s department workflow
• Identifying and outlining department bottlenecks and deficiencies, technical or otherwise, to the CG supervisor, producers, and pipeline team, as well as proposing and implementing solutions
• Clearly and concisely documenting and communicating department procedures, workflows, and standards to the CG team and on the M2 Animation’s Wiki
• Partnering with CG supervisor and production management to facilitate effective communication between departments, to facilitate the career growth of the key talent within the department
• Partnering with CG supervisor and pipeline team to determine appropriate use of applications and tools as they apply to the department pipeline for the various CG productions, either in development or as they are phased into the productions

 

Skills & Technical Knowledge Requirements:

We are looking for a positive-thinking, flexible, calm, collaborative Rigging Supervisor, with strong interpersonal skills to join our multinational studio and help us create world-class animation. As our new Rigging Supervisor, you must have a proven track record of successful leadership and management skills, and the ability to multitask various projects. We expect you to have at least 5 years of experience in the field of animation as well as some previous experience from working in Asia or with Asian companies or Thai culture.

You must be able to work under strict deadlines and have a steady hand under pressure. You have excellent problem solving and communication skills, and you possess very good English language skills in both reading, writing, and speech. You have good math skills, are technologically savvy, and excellent at adapting to new ways of working.

 

The right candidate will also have:

• Maya including Python. Being able to script rigs in Python is important
• Needs experience in Bipeds, Quadrupeds and Faces
• Excellent understanding of figure and facial anatomy and experience working with Facial Action Coding System based facial rigging system
• Experience with MEL, Python, Autodesk Maya, and Shotgun
• Ideally Experience Shotgun
• Knowledge of modern and efficient character rigging systems
• Full understanding of the lexicon of CG animation
• Good skills for logical design by finding ways to simplify complex tasks
• At least 5 years experience in feature films
