We are Puppetworks, a premium animation studio based in Budapest, Hungary.

Founded in 2009, over the years we have evolved into an international animation provider, offering exceptional 3D visual content for some of the world’s most prominent game developers including EA, Ubisoft, THQ Nordic and Fatshark to name a few. In addition to our client work, we have developed several in-house intellectual properties for animated features and episodic series.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Environment Lead to join our studio. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of artists responsible for creating high-quality environment assets and ensuring cohesiveness with the project’s narrative and design.

What you will do:

  • Manage a team of environment artists and ensure their work meets quality standards and is completed on time.
  • Provide constructive feedback to other artists and provide guidance to help them improve their skills and work
  • Participate in regular meetings with other departments to ensure all assets meet specifications provided by all relevant departments
  • Develop art assets and textures for environments using various software tools, such as 3D modelling, sculpting, and texturing software
  • Create technical breakdowns
  • Write task templates
  • Ensure all environment assets are optimised and meet technical requirements

What we expect of you:

  • Proven production experience (min. 5 years) on a team
  • Strong understanding of asset production pipelines and workflows
  • Strong understanding of large environment creation
  • Proficient in 3D modelling, sculpting, and texturing software, such as Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter
  • Basic understanding of Lighting and Look Development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
