Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to turning creativity into careers. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.

An opportunity exists to work within established teams of specialist technical and academic staff, providing support to students studying on Animation Production courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contributing to the delivery and success of collaborative projects across complementary subjects.

Under the line management of the Technical Operations Manager, the successful candidate will support activities across all areas of animation production, provide technical and health and safety workshops and demonstrations to groups of students; issue and receive equipment and resources to and from stores; undertake first-line maintenance, stock check, audit and maintain accurate asset lists and inventories; ensure processes are followed and documentation produced to maintain and manage health, safety and welfare; and provide effective and reactive technical support throughout the working day.

For this particular post, we are seeking an individual with the relevant skills and knowledge to provide specialist support to 2D digital animation production, for which you will need to be conversant with relevant software including Toon Boom Harmony and Storyboard Pro. Familiarity with a broader range of animation applications, such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud and Nuke Production Collective, and experience of handling and using professional filmmaking equipment, of planning, building and dismantling exhibitions, and of working in higher or further education would be advantageous, whilst an understanding and appreciation of workplace health, safety and welfare is essential.

Highly flexible in your approach to the working day and environment, you will occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends, both on and off the university’s main campus.
You must possess GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent, in English and Maths and a level 3 qualification in a relevant related subject. A degree level qualification, or equivalent experience in an appropriate field, would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will ideally hold a full UK driving licence, to assist with the transport of materials, equipment and resources to and from filming, event and exhibition locations.
