Full-Time Storyboard Supervisor

Job Description

Dog Ears is an award-winning creative studio based in Derry in the North of Ireland. We create content for kids and bring our stories and characters to life across media and platforms worldwide.

We are looking for Storyboard Supervisors on our new 2D Animated TV serial at Dog Ears.

Key Requirements:

• Create Storyboards and timed animatic sequences using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro
• Ability to work closely with the Director to visualise the Script
• Work from Script, Briefing Notes and Design Pack
• Developing characters and actions, scene by scene in a
cinematic style
• Have a view for strong composition and posing with an eye
for action and drama.
• Meet deadlines as established by production management
• Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and pitches as
• Artist needs to be able to take direction well, follow
Directors’ notes and changes, and make the required revisions
• Assist the Art Director in integrating the characters,
their shapes and visual motifs to the overall style of
the show.
• Working as part of a Storyboard team to maximize the
contributions of each Storyboard Artist
• Supervise and support Storyboard Team
• Ensure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in your work and your team’s work and that all notes/retakes are added.
• Maintain well-structured files and adhere to established layer and texture naming conventions.
• Responsible for clarifying the Director’s and the Art Director’s vision to the Storyboard team. Please note
that your role demands communicating the necessary retakes to your team as well as providing solutions to help them accomplish their tasks; only in very special circumstances you should be fixing their work.
• To brief each Storyboard artist on their assigned tasks.
• To help each Storyboard artist adhere to their assigned
• Follow instructions of Art Director, Director and
Production Manager to meet creative standard and
production deadlines.
• To report, communicate progress of work and address any
problems to the Production Manager and Production
• To help with the coach and training of interns and
juniors in the Storyboard department if needed. – To attend departmental kick-off meetings, reviews and Director approvals as needed.
• To be available on-line and by emails during working hours
• Follow exact procedures set by Dog Ears.
• Minimum 4 years of related work experience is required
• Strong drawing skills with a demonstrated clarity of
storytelling, staging, composition, and character acting
• Passion for storytelling, sketching, conceptualizing and
developing characters
• Strong attention to detail as well as organisational skills
• An ability to work collaboratively & efficiently in a fast
paced quality driven team
• Previous experience of supervising Storyboard team
• Should be proficient in Storyboard Pro.
• Must be UK based with the potential for relocation to Derry/Londonderry (UK)
