Full-Time Senior Technical Animator, Montreal/New York (Remote)

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Technical Animator to join our talented team, with team members based in Montréal, New York (and some fully remote within the US and Canada), working on our new action-RPG title.

The right candidate for this position will work closely with the Animation, Art, and Design Directors to establish an iconic, stylized look for the next generation of consoles and PC. You will create innovative rigs and tools to allow our characters to come to life. Your expertise will support and inspire the creation of engaging and unique animation and gameplay experiences.   


  • Work directly with art and animation teams to create rigs and weight characters, props, and weapons to support animation needs from Maya to Unreal. 
  • Develop tools for artistsanimators, and designers for efficient pipelines and workflows both in 3D software and in Unreal.  
  • Develop tools and pipeline for retargeting and transferring animation data.  
  • Collaborate with animation, design, and programming to develop animation and gameplay. 
  • Research and develop new tools, methods, and workflows to support the style of the game. 
  • Setup various assets in engine including characters, blueprints, and other systems.  
  • Assist in troubleshooting and supporting technical issues within 3D software and Unreal. 


  • Significant professional experience in a game development environment, preferably AAA games  
  • Expert knowledge in character and prop rigging, skinning, tool creation. 
  • Expert knowledge and experience with art and animation workflow, pipelines and tools.  
  • Experience using Unreal to setup characters and animations.  
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Mel, C#/C++, Maya API. 
  • Self-motivated drive to help continue to develop and support new tools and more efficient workflows
  • Authorized to work in either the US or Canada.

  • Expert level knowledge of Unreal (Blueprints, EventGraphsAnimGraphs, State Machines, Retargeting) 
  • Cross disciplinary skills in game development 
  • Experience supporting external teams a plus.
