With over 2 million subscribers on YouTube and half a billion lifetime views, Alex Clark Studios is on the hunt for background artists for its latest web series… The College Girl.

The College Girl is a series that explores the mistakes we made in college and the lessons we learned. The show combines the heart of Ted Lasso with the art style found in cartoons like The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, Hilda, Atomic Puppet, and SpongeBob.

Alex Clark Studios is based in Los Angeles but this is a remote position.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience creating backgrounds within Toon Boom Harmony
• Excellent understanding of color theory
• Proficient in developing simplified yet detailed environments that complement character design, enhance storytelling, and match the cartoony style of the series
• Strong understanding of spatial composition and perspective, with the ability to create immersive, animated settings (urban landscapes, interiors, nature scenes)
• Consistency in style and attention to detail, ensuring backgrounds fit cohesively with the animated characters and overall tone of the series
• Ability to work with minimal textures while still capturing depth, lighting, and dimension to bring scenes to life

Responsibilities:
This is a freelance position where artists will create backgrounds on a per-episode basis.
