Job Description

We’re looking to hire character animators (senior, mid and junior) for an exciting new stop motion style TV special for the BBC.

 

Contract Date: February to June 2025 for all levels of artists. Please be aware that due to the nature of this project, preference will be given to South African based artists.

Reporting Lines:  Animation Director

Purpose of the position: Responsible for breathing life into our characters, infusing them with emotion, personality, and movement that resonate with audiences. Skill in translating storyboards and concept art into fluid and captivating animations will play a crucial role in bringing our narratives to life.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 to 3 years of advanced character animation in a 3d production pipeline environment.
• Experience with animating on 2’s and emulating a stop-frame animation style in CG will be beneficial.
• Software knowledge to include: Maya
• Translate storyboards, animatics, and concept art into compelling and expressive character animations that align with the project’s narrative and visual style.
• Create realistic and dynamic character movements, including body mechanics, facial expressions, and gestures.
• Apply principles of timing, weight, and anticipation to create animations that evoke emotion, enhance storytelling, and engage the audience.
• Collaborate with the rigging team to ensure that character rigs are optimized for animation and capable of achieving a broad range of movements.
• Strong artistic skills and excellent attention to detail
• Iterate and refine animations based on feedback from the animation director, creative leads, and technical teams to achieve the desired level of quality.
• Must have the ability to problem solve to meet deadlines and work under pressure with a tight schedule
• Comfortable working among a team of up to 40 people
