Full-Time Production Assistant

Job Description

MYSTERY Q / BLINK INDUSTRIES are on the lookout for an experienced  PRODUCTION ASSISTANT to join us, remotely initially, to support the ART, STORYBOARD & EDIT departments on Childrens’ Animated Series DEADENDIA for Netflix.


Main Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Production Team and assigned Department Coordinator to ensure clear communication and efficient flow of information across all relevant departments: Art Dept (Location, Props & Character); Storyboard, and Edit
    • Arranging briefs and reviews for assigned departments and ensuring that meeting rooms or calls are set up and ready to begin / all attendees are on the call in a timely fashion
    • Take notes during briefs and reviews and update tracking system accordingly
    • Maintenance of tracking documents for assigned departments and keeping asset and episode database up to date with all relevant information
    • Data entry, for example linking assets to episodes / shots in tracking software and assigning shots and deadlines to artists in ftrack
    • Create and update episodic and general packs with material for briefs and reviews and maintain Series Bible documents 
    • Prepare reference packages and information for new crew starters as required 
    • Admin / studio management support as and when required by production team, for example file backups and transfers
  • Basic artwork tasks to help prep episodes as and when required by crew or artists, for example exporting final files from Photoshop 
  • Coordinate and attend production meetings as required
  • Distribute production communications as needed within the teams and externally
  • Any ad hoc duties that may arise according to the needs of the production.

Specific Requirements

  • Ideally 1 year industry experience on animated productions (Animation Production Studio or Creative Agency) as runner / intern / production assistant or similar role in similar environment
  • Excellent oral and written English language communication skills
  • Excellent administrative skills and fastidious nature when it comes to checking your own work
  • Good knowledge / experience with Microsoft Office and Googledocs 
  • Knowledge of Photoshop an advantage
  • Good knowledge of animation process and pipelines
  • Good understanding of schedules and importance of deadlines
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and putting them into practice
  • Proactive and resourceful approach to tackling new tasks, researching and gathering information where necessary, but comfortable asking for help when needed
  • Patience and resilience when carrying out repetitive tasks 
  • Strong ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and stay calm and diplomatic under pressure
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of personalities and use discretion when needed
  • Knowledge and experience with tracking software a distinct advantage, particularly ftrack
  • TV Series experience a distinct advantage

  • This is a contract position, fixed term PAYE
  • The role would initially be remote but the intention is for crew to be in-house in our studio in North London if and when confirmed safe to do so.
