Full-Time After Effects Compositor (Remote Applications Welcome)

Job Description

Blink Industries are on the lookout for After Effects Compositors to join us on an exciting new Animated Series for Netflix, “Deadendia”. 

If you have significant experience in a series production or similar studio environment as a compositor and are keen to take on an exciting new challenge, please apply as per the details below. 

Please note this position will be started remotely, with the intention to be working in-house when it’s confirmed to be safe to work on-site and crew are comfortable to do so. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with the Compositing Leads to ensure the vision of the directorial team is met, following guides and instructions to match the style and artistry of the show.
  • Taking animated characters from within Toon Boom through to After Effects and producing finished shots ready to deliver to the editors. 
  • Ensuring personal shot allocation is completed to a high standard and delivered under deadline. 
  • Self-QCing shots to minimise errors and keep continuity throughout scenes.
  • Being receptive to feedback and completing retakes where required. 
  • Ensure all scenes are properly backed up and stored appropriately. 
  • Ensure After Effects files are organised in a clean and functional way 
  • Proactively flag and respond to any issues that arise and take a positive approach to troubleshooting 

REQUIREMENTS 

Essential requirements 

  • Industry experience in animation on a series production (ideally 1-3+ years) 
  • Extensive knowledge of After Effects and intermediate knowledge of Photoshop. Knowledge of Toon Boom node systems is also highly desirable. 
  • Creative vision and understanding of cinematography and colour theory is a plus. Ability to follow styles and instructions set by the leads but with the room to improvise, experiment and show initiative. 
  • Solution driven attitude towards both personal workload and collaborating with the rest of the team. Continuously finding ways to improve processes for ease and efficiency while remaining positive, receptive and adaptable to change. 
  • Experience in technical workflow and working as part of a pipeline. Ftrack experience is handy but not essential. 
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail and continuity. 
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written skills, including a high level of English and ability to communicate with a wide range of personalities both within the department and outside of.

COMPOSITOR JOB DESCRIPTION 

  • Ideally you would have the Right to work in the UK but this would not necessarily be a deal breaker for the right candidate. However you would be expected to be able to work UK hours to attend briefs and reviews.
