Job: 3D Gameplay/Technical Animator

Mob Entertainment is a startup multimedia studio that is best known for our hit indie horror game “Poppy Playtime.” Poppy Playtime is one of hottest new properties in gaming, and our team is naturally expanding as our ambition expands. To give a taste of our brand’s popularity, Poppy Playtime was the #2 most searched term on YouTube in the last 12 months in the U.S. (only behind a recent Disney film), and Poppy Playtime has over 5 billion views on TikTok.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to create high quality character animations in Maya, and implement the animations into Unreal Engine to create complex, real-time animations. You will need to be able to create complex systems and use optimized methods for performance. You need to be able to adapt to our team’s workflow so that you can collaborate with team members when needed/useful. Being proficient in blueprinting focused on animation (animation blueprinting) is required.

You will also need to be familiar with Unreal Engine skeletal meshes, importing/exporting assets from Unreal Engine, creating an animation blueprint, importing character animation and coding it, understanding various techniques for blending animations such as state machines, blend spaces, and aim offsets.

You will also need to be able to research and read documentation when needed. A lot of new issues can arise on a daily basis. Therefore, you will be expected to find solutions for problems and implement them. You will also be expected to be an efficient worker and find faster solutions to problems since the team is small.

This is an in-house position.


  • Animating characters according to provided guidelines in Maya.
  • Exporting animations from Maya and importing them into Unreal Engine.
  • Giving estimates on when a task will be completed.
  • Creating complex animation blueprints that utilize pre-made character animations and are made to work with a specified character blueprint.
  • Creating new complex events or systems by yourself entirely.
  • Modifying existing systems without the need to rework all of the code.
  • Ensuring that your code is as optimized as can be.


  • At least 2 years of experience with animating in Maya.
  • At least 2 years of experience with blueprinting in UE4.
  • An understanding of most general tasks in UE4.
  • Proficient understanding of animation blueprinting in UE4.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to take well to constructive criticism and work under deadlines.
