Job: 2D Traditional Animator

We are currently looking for 2D Traditional Animators for a wonderful new Feature production. If you want to bring some classic characters to life, please send your Resume & Reel along.

The Role:

Joining the Animation Team, your responsibilities are:

  • Upon receiving the Harmony File, with board, relevant reference & source material in hand, you will be responsible to deliver full Rough Animation for review before tackling your own Tie-down.
  • You’ll add clear timing-charts for the Clean-up team to follow.
  • With the style of the animation being more classic cartoon squash & stretch, we want you to have fun pushing the poses & acting while keeping the essence in the boards.
  • You will collaborate with your supervisor to get the most out of your work & talents, as well as having fluid communication with other Seniors in the team for additional guidance to help keep continuity across the team.
  • The timing is very much humour driven, so pay close attention to dialogue & comedy queues to help sell the performances.
  • You will oversee your own full Lip-sync as well.

The Project. Exact details aside, it can be related that:

  • It is one of the few local opportunities to do traditional, hand-drawn animation.
  • The project is an exciting opportunity to animate in a more classic style, getting to exaggerate poses & expressions.

Used software:

  • Toon Boom Harmony.
  • Following specific structures & organization within the Harmony file.

Who are you?

  • Prior experience animating on several TV Series or feature film. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in animation.
  • Knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony.
  • Strong understanding of form, structure & draftsmanship.
  • Experience in using & creating timing charts.
  • Life Drawing experience a big plus.
  • Passionate about creating fun, energetic work.
  • Adaptable to different animation styles & designs.
  • Strong time management skills & understanding of your own achievable goals to keep on track.
  • Open & clear communication, especially if working remotely.
  • You are entitled to work in Canada.

Contract:

The position is full-time starting mid-September (there is a possibility to start earlier) and ends in February. It can be remote or in our studio based in downtown Montreal.

Candidates located in Quebec will be given priority.
