BLINK INDUSTRIES is an Emmy-winning and BAFTA-nominated development and production studio based in London. We specialize in bringing an inventive, mixed-media approach to our slate of Comedy and Family projects and we’re passionate about developing ideas that look and feel like no other.

We are currently looking for a talented and versatile 2D FX Animation Supervisor, starting Spring 2024, to join our team on an exciting new 2D/CG mixed media TV series project that we’re bringing to life at our North-London based studio.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar lead/supervisor 2D FX Animation role on a fast-paced animated TV series,
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to work towards tight deadlines,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively,
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to delegate work efficiently,
  • Strong team-player with the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of departments and different personalities,
  • Strong ability to multi-task and a creative and proactive approach to problem-solving,
  • Highly organized and experienced in scoping, bidding and giving concise feedback and briefings,
  • Strong understanding of 2D animation principles and perspective,
  • Excellent draftsmanship skills and ability to adapt to different styles,
  • Strong understanding of a broad variety of different types and styles of 2D effects with both character and environment interaction,
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the latest 2D FX Animation techniques and visual trends,
  • Expert Knowledge of ToonBoom Harmony

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Work closely with the Animation Director, Art Director, Directors and Producers to develop, create and maintain the 2D FX animation style and workflow of a 2D/CG mixed media TV series, using as a reference the provided briefings and materials,
  • Create 2D FX animations using as a reference the provided briefings and material whilst ensuring that work is done within scope as well as within the creative and technical guidelines,
  • Lead and supervise a team of 2D FX Animators to create 2D FX animations, using as a reference the provided briefings and materials ensuring that work is done within quota and scope and follows the creative and technical guidelines,
  • Pro-actively communicate and troubleshoot any arising issues as well as find and implement effective solutions swiftly,
  • Create and communicate shot and episode based briefings for and to the FX Animation team ensuring the creative vision and technical standards of the series are clearly communicated and maintained throughout,
  • Work closely with the Production Coordinator to bit out work to the FX Animation team, ensuring that work is done within schedule; flag and troubleshoot any issues as they arise,
  • Regularly review shots and provide day-to-day support and feedback to the 2D FX Animation team as needed,
  • Regularly review shots in a sequence to ensure technical and creative integrity and continuity throughout,
  • Attend and prepare reviews, briefings and technical reviews as needed and required,
  • Provide support and mentorship to the team, especially Junior Artists, and work closely with the production team to upkeep a positive and inclusive work environment,
  • Pro-actively create, maintain and continuously improve the 2D FX Animation workflow ensuring a smooth, efficient and effective running of the FX Animation pipeline as well as hand-overs within, to and from the 2D FX Animation department,
  • This list is not exhaustive and you might be ask to perform additional duties that naturally fall under the responsibilities of a FX Animation Supervisor.

This role is a full time in-house position at our North-London based studio and requires the successful candidate to have the right to work in the UK.
