Web Anime Series
Aura Productions is an independent anime production company developing a novel web anime and webtoon series using a hybrid production model that incorporates AI into our post-production workflow. Our goal is to maintain a traditional anime storytelling approach while accelerating production through modern tools. Our story is written by human, our key frames are drawn by human, and our voice overs are performed by humans. We use AI to animate keyframes, and all animation work is supervised by human (prompted by human, filtered and selected by human).
We are currently looking for a Storyboard Artist and Color Artist who excels at fight scene composition, dynamic camera work, and strong understanding of lighting references.
We are ideally looking to recruiting an individual who can cover both of the responsibilities mentioned, but are also open to hiring multiple individuals who can cover one of the responsibilities.Β
1. Storyboard Artist (Action / Fight Scene Specialist)
The Storyboard Artist should be familiar with fight scene composition and dynamic camera work.
Responsibilities
- Create rough storyboard key frames based on either:
- an episodic script, or
- a shot list provided by the director.
- Each episode typically contains 25β30 storyboard frames.
- Focus on:
- dynamic camera angles
- fight choreography composition
- strong visual storytelling
- Provide loose sketches for the director to review narrative sequence.
This stage focuses only on composition and camera staging. There is no need for detailed facial expressions, lighting references, or color work.
Compensation
- $100 USD per episode
- Each episode includes 25β30 storyboard frames
Requirements
- Strong understanding of action choreography and fight scene staging
- Ability to quickly sketch clear visual storytelling panels
- Experience with anime-style action direction preferred
- Comfortable working with rough storyboard sketches
- Ability to converse and discuss story's narrative needs in English
- Availability to join occasional discussions with the director between 2 PM β 11 PM PST

2. Color Artist / Co-Director (Visual & Lighting Direction)
We are looking for a Color Artist / Co-Director to collaborate closely with the Director and Showrunner during episodic reviews.
This role focuses on visual direction, color guidance, and compositional feedback to help maintain a strong visual style across the production.
Responsibilities
Visual Review
- Review episodic frame sets alongside the Director and Showrunner
- Provide visual and compositional feedback
- Focus primarily on key shots that require refinement
Color & Lighting Direction
- Provide loose sketch-over notes
- Suggest lighting direction and mood
- Guide the production team on color tone and scene atmosphere
Not every episode will require heavy notesβthe focus is on maintaining strong visual consistency and elevating key moments.
Requirements
- Strong sense of color, lighting, and visual composition
- Experience working in animation, anime, or comic production
- Ability to communicate visual ideas through quick sketch-overs
- Comfortable collaborating with creative leadership
- Ability to communicate in English
Ideal Candidate
- Experience with anime-style lighting and color scripts
- Background as a color designer, art director, or animation supervisor
- Comfortable giving constructive visual feedback
