Since first watching Chuck Jones’ Duck Amuck, I developed a passion and admiration for 2D animation personality-driven storytelling. My exposure to the Looney Tunes, Spongebob Squarepants, and Cartoon Network shows such as Chowder solidified my interest in animations with unique characters, self-referential humor, surrealist comedy, charm, and a bit of edge. As an avid animation historian, I use my love of the old Warner Bros and MGM theatricals, and the works of TMS and Studio Ghibli to inform myself about the animation pipeline. Studying the masters of the past in edited “Sakuga MAD” video reels informs my animation decisions regarding character posing, timing, and overlapping action. I concentrated in Animation at the Digital Media field at East Tennessee State University. I graduated with a BS in May 2021. I worked at ETSU’s Digital Media Equipment Room my senior year and at ETSU English Department’s Computer Labs my sophomore year. My skill set includes animation, character design, environment/prop design, and video editing. I’m very approachable and my passion for entertainment history is so deep you’ll often get lost in numerous hour-long discussions. My goals are to work as a character animator, storyboard artist, and eventually a series director in the children’s television industry.
